Taimani means “once upon a time” in Inuvialuktun, these are words spoken by our Inuvialuit Elders before sharing a story, myth, or legend.
This isn’t just the beginning of a clothing line. It’s the beginning of a collective—a platform for empowerment, wellness, and meaningful impact. A story of community and the power of movement. Because movement is medicine.
Taimani is proudly Indigenous-owned but made for everyone. Founded by Indigenous actress and advocate Marika Sila. Taimani is where design meets purpose—a brand rooted in Indigenous values, ethical production, and giving back to community. Every seam, silhouette, and symbol is shaped by Marika’s journey—through performance, healing, and her unwavering commitment to create something that reflects honest sustainability. Each piece is crafted with intention, using high-performance, eco-friendly fabrics that support your body and honor the planet.
Taimani wasn’t built overnight. It was hand-shaped through intuition, trust, and the unwavering determination to do things the right way—even when it wasn’t the easy way. What began as sketches and a dream has grown into a platform for self-expression and lasting impact. Our mission is to inspire movement, empower communities, and give back through accessible education. Whether you’re training, healing, dancing, or simply showing up—Taimani is here to help you move, not just your body, but your story forward.

Designed with Purpose
This isn’t fast fashion. Every garment is made with intention in Canada, the result of mindful choices and creative collaboration. From our fabrics to our production partners, we make every effort to ensure that what you wear is made consciously—with care for the planet, for your body, and for the people behind the work. All of our fabrics are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, meaning they’re tested for harmful substances and free from forever chemicals, safe for your skin and the environment. Our collections are shaped by a commitment to ethics, transparency, and cultural responsibility. We’re proud to partner with local creators, designers, and seamstresses who help bring our vision to life.

Inspired by Storytelling, Built for Movement
For generations, storytelling has been a way for us as Indigenous Peoples to preserve knowledge, pass down traditions, and connect with community. We’ve shared stories not only through words, but through dance and movement. At Taimani, we carry that legacy forward. Our designs are made to move with you—whether you’re training, dancing, creating, or simply living with intention, we want you to feel confident in your choices and empowered to tell your story through movement.
“I believe that reconciliation takes work from both sides, and it’s through projects like this where we’re able to come together for a greater cause when we can uplift one another, the community, and our nation as a whole.”
— Marika Sila, Founder of Taimani
